Boston’s Ayo Edebiri Wins 1st Golden Globe, Shuts Down Reporter For Showing Calvin Klein Ad

Ayo Edebiri and the cast of “The Bear” took home several awards during the 81st Golden Globes, and the Boston native wasn’t about to let a reporter ruin their night by pulling out a half-naked Calvin Klein ad of her co-star.

Ayo Edebiri wasn't having it after a reporter asked her "The Bear" cast members what they thought of their co-star Jeremy Allen White's viral Calvin Klein underwear ad campaign during the Golden Globes.

The FX series won for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy, while Jeremy Allen White took home the Best Actor award and Ayo Edebiri snagged her Best Actress award in the same category on Sunday, Jan. 7.

The 28-year-old Dorchester native — whose mother is from Barbados, and her father is Nigerian — attended St. Margaret School and sang in the church choir.

She then attended the prestigious Boston Latin School before graduating from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts with a writing degree, the Boston Globe reported.

Edebiri thanked her real and “The Bear” family in her acceptance speech. She also praised her “agents’ and managers’ assistants” for answering her emails.

Backstage, she stood up for White when a reporter from Extra whipped out a photo from his recent underwear ad campaign for Calvin Klein.

In true Boston fashion, she wasn’t having any of it:

The Calvin Klein ad took the internet by storm, but bringing it out during a post-Golden Globe Awards interview wasn’t the time and place.

“This is my boy! It’s a work function, you know what I mean?” Edebiri told the reporter.
